Care Trak

Care Trak relies on state-of-the-art technology and a specially trained search and rescue team to locate patients who have wandered away from home. As many as 60% of Alzheimer’s patients will wander away from their caregiver. Many patients will wander repeatedly.

When an Alzheimer’s patient wanders away they are unaware of their situation; they do not call out for help and do not respond to people calling out to them. It is critical that patients are recovered quickly.

How does Care Trak work?
The Care Trak bracelet is a one-ounce battery-operated radio wrist transmitter emitting an automatic tracking signal every second, 24 hours a day. The signal can be tracked on the ground and in the air over several miles. As each bracelet has a unique radio frequency, the Care Trak search team can positively locate and identify the person who has wandered.

In central Alabama Care Trak Programs are available in Blount, Calhoun, Etowah, Jefferson, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Tuscaloosa, and Walker Counties.  Other Alabama counties and municipalities with Care Trak programs include: Baldwin; Cherokee; Cleveland; Coffee; Covington; Cullman; Dale; Daleville Police Department; Dallas; Decatur Police Department; Escambia; Geneva; Henry; Houston; Lee; Madison; Marshall; Mobile; Montgomery; Morgan; Ozark Police Department; Pike and Winston.
